Family History research Data
We know that in the 19th Century many local families emigrated. The following link gives access to ships list and is a useful too in tracing family members who went abroad. We know that local villagers went to Australia and the United States of America, whilst others left for London. We think this exodus of people may have been due to a combination of the Enclosure Act; the Industrial Revolution and possibly disease and agricultural depression. We have yet to research this period fully but it would be interesting to find out why so many people left.
