Northstowe Secondary School
Swavesey Village College has been given the opportunity to run the new school on Northstowe. The school is currently under construction and is expected to take its first Year 6 pupils from Hatton Park School, Longstanton in September 2019. Ultimately the Northstowe Education Campus will not only provide a Secondary School but will have a SEN School on the site as well.

Northstowe Facebook pages
There are a number of Facebook pages now relating to Northstowe – some focus on what is happening with the development whilst others have been set up be the new residents as a support network for the new community. Here are just a couple of interest:
Heritage Facility
The heritage society has a Facebook page where you can contact the society quickly and easily by leaving a message. We also use the page to give instant access to news, views and events from a range of local organisations which may prove to be of interest. LDHS remains committed to ensuring that there is a heritage facility provided on the former RAF Oakington site. The Anglo-Saxon, Roman and military histories of Longstanton, Oakington so that the heritage assets which are being impacted on by this development can be preserved for generations to come. Please help our work by providing stories, memories and information if you can. Alternatively, please join the society so we can continue with the work we started over ten years ago.

LDHS receives recognition for our work
This is a positive development and illustrates that the work of the heritage society is now being taken seriously. LDHS welcomes the positive stance that Homes England has taken with regards the reuse of former RAF Oakington buildings and over the last year or so LDHS has been part of a Heritage Core Group which is made up of representatives from Homes England, CCC and SCDC Conservation Department. LDHS sits on this group in an advisory capacity only and has no part in the decision making process. Part of the work of the Heritage Core Group has been to look at how a heritage facility can be provided on the Northstowe site.
