Since the Society was launched in May 2007, there has been a change to the Constitution with version 2 being adopted at the Annual General Meeting held on 27 October 2022. The latest objects and definitions of the Society as listed in the latest Constitution are detailed below.

Objects
The Objects of the Society shall be:
- To act as an advisory body.
- To protect & promote the heritage of Longstanton & District.
- To develop archival records in any appropriate format; recording the social, rural and military heritage of Longstanton & District.
- To promote and support the display and storage of the LDHS Archives within Longstanton, Northstowe or Oakington and Westwick.
- To use the Society’s archival collections for education and exhibition purposes within Longstanton and District and to raise funds to meet the Objects of the Society.
Definitions
The Definitions used in the Objects of the Society are:
The District is defined as consisting of Northstowe and the village of Oakington and Westwick. It can also include the area associated with the South West Fen Edge and our local tracks and by-ways, so the interactions between local communities can be properly understood.
Heritage is defined as photographs, film, buildings, objects, landscape features, local art, archives, personal memories, memorabilia and artefacts and anything else that the Trustees may determine.
