A Museum In Sight?

Following on from this afternoon’s meeting I think it is safe to say that if all goes according to plan HCA may start work on the Phase 2 site so that they will have houses ready for occupation as soon as the A14 upgrade is complete. This makes sense as there is no need for them to hang around. The new access road, which will sever the Oakington road, can be built and then joined up to the B1050 at the last minute.

If houses start to be occupied in 2020 then there is no reason why a museum facility cannot be up and running to coincide with this date. It would give prospective purchasers and new residents somewhere to go, learn about Northstowe and meet residents of the existing villages. As we have always stated a museum alongside a café (or similar) is the ideal. If this is the time scale we are working on, even for a temporary exhibition space, we need to start discussions on this matter soon. LDHS has a valuable archive that needs protecting for future generations. We will look forward to working with others to ensure that this happens.

As ever, we will keep you updated with progress if and when it happens.
