Peterborough Museum

Peterborough stands on the edge of the Fens and was historically a very important centre for the East of England and its Cathedral stands testament to a turbulent past. Vulnerable to invasion from Europe the city has a unique history and is certainly worth a visit.

It’s known for the 12th- and 13th-century Peterborough Cathedral, with its Gothic facade. In a former hospital building, the Peterborough Museum has a reconstructed Victorian operating theatre, plus fossils and paintings. Flag Fen Archaeology Park features Bronze Age village and causeway remains.
