Lillian Clark Goodchild – Artist

Lillian Clark Goodchild was wife of Rev. John Goodchild, who was Rector and Vicar of Longstanton from 1936 until his death in 1944. Lillian, his wife, was an artist and daughter of the artist James Clark R.I. She was also sister to the artist Cosmo Clark R.A. During her years in Longstanton Lillian painted many villages scenes. These paintings provide a record of Longstanton as a largely rural community; where the largest employer remained the local farms.

The whereabouts of most of her original artwork is not known but LDHS would love to locate the Longstanton pictures if it can. The pictures were always signed: Lillian Clark Goodchild.

Below is a photograph of Lillian Clark Goodchild and some examples of her Longstanton artwork.
