According to the National Farmers Union the British Film Institute has released 750 short films, completely free to download, which look at rural life and were filmed between 1900 to 1999. They present a moving record of Britain’s countryside and its people during the last century, you might even have family members featured on one of the films.
Many of the ‘Rural Life’ project films haven’t been seen since they were first shown and chart the changing countryside, highlight activities and traditions still surviving today, as well as customs, trades and skills that have since dwindled or disappeared.
