The Manor (Manor Farm) in the 1980’s. Called The Manor on OS map 1926 the house and land was also known as Manor Farm. On the deeds it is also recorded as Manor (Inholms) Farm. Inholms Farm was certainly owned by the Jones family and was located on the airfield. It can be seen on old maps. When the Hatton Estate was sold off The Manor and Inholms I think went together as Lot 1. The farm was demolished to make way for the airfield. The house has been described to me by Sylvia Skinner and Mary Reader as being of white bricks similar to The Manor with living accomodation and animal housing in the same building! I cannot be sure of this but this would be suggest that the building was quite old and or relatively low status.
The Longstanton farms are not really “old” in terms of their boundaries. It was Sir Christopher Hatton I believe who split the farms into more equal sizes possibly to make it easier to find paying tenants. In the past Manorial boundaries would have been the most important boundary but these became “lost” as one Lord of the Manor often owned 3 of the Manorial holdings. When this happens exact Manorial boundaries become blurred. This if why Rev Atkins (St Michael’s church) took Sir Thomas Hatton to court in the 18th Century.
