Ivan Cooke Collection – c 1980’s
Rear view Manor Farm. I wonder if the kitchen and utility room (single storey building with green door) was built on by Salmon Linton Swann when he / his wife (Marian) purchased the property in 1884. I have no evidence except for the fact the building reminds me of a Victorian railway building. (It may just be my imagination!) Salmon Linton Swann I think changed the 1st floor Georgian day room fireplaces into smaller grates for coal. There certainly was an era for modernisation in Victorian / Edwardian times. If it was not Salmon Linton Swann it might have been Salmon Linton of The Grange who purchased Manor Farm (Lot 1) when the Hatton Estate was sold off in 1874. Salmon Linton Swann and his wife died in the 1930’s and the house and farm were purchased by ” Barley Baron” E C Jones. It is unlikely that he or his son Jack Jones made these changes.
