The Manor – July 1989 showing the restoration of the derelict builing and the discovery of the Medieval timber frame. The timbers running lengthways internally were later removed possibly due to water damage. Ivan Cooke who lived in the house (his father was the last farm foreman Vic Cooke) remembers water pouring in the valley gutter to the ground floor. Possibly the original ? Georgian ironwork had perished by the 1980’s. An architect called at The Manor after we had converted it to a house. He said that he had been involved in the conversion of the building to offices and in his view the property was within a few weeks of having to be demolished as the Georgian and Medieval parts of the property were pulling apart. The hole at the right front of the picture may be a well. It is in the right place for one that Ivan said was in the utility room.
